In the Beginning

Royal Travel has been part of the commercial scene in Cold Lake  for over 40 years.  Outstanding client service was the hallmark of original owner, Paul Higgins.  This tradition of excellence was carried on by Bob & Lori Bowes  when they took over from Paul in 1998, and continues under the guidance of Norm Sinclair and Connie Cripps, agency  owners  since 2002.

Over this long period, we have built a reputation for uncompromising dedication to customer service and satisfaction.  As a full service, independently owned and operated agency, we are able to cobble together travel arrangements for our corporate and leisure clients using a full range of national and international suppliers.  This ensures that our customers  get what they want, at the price they want, when they want it.

Of course, we couldn't deliver this level of service without our dedicated staff of experienced, enthusiastic travel consultants. They've ridden elephants in Thailand, camels in Egypt, suffered the indignities offered by Homeland Security personnel in Houston and Los Angeles, hiked to Macchu Picchu, bussed through Scotland, cruised the Mediterranean, had their pockets picked on a Mexico City subway, and suffered through the infuriating inefficiencies of British airports.  And while they haven't done it all, there's always our valued clients who happily fill in the gaps for them.   Adding on-line webinars, seminars, familiarity trips and tours  to the mix, our valued customers can be confident they are being offered the latest in travel options.

Norm Sinclair - Managing Director

Norm retired from the Canadian Air Force in 1995, having spent most of his 33 year career as a fighter pilot.  Over that period, he  covered much of Europe and North America, and since the take-over of Royal Travel has stamps in his passport from China, Thailand, Burma, Laos, more places in Europe including Russia, South & Central  America, and the middle east.  There's still a few blank pages, and high on his to-do list is Moscow to Beijing on the Trans-Siberian Railway.

Norm is mainly concerned with the business aspects of operating Royal Travel, so he isn't often seen out in the front office. Some say that may be a good thing.

Connie Cripps, CGA

Connie moved to Cold Lake from Summerside, P.E.I. in the summer of 1990.  Shortly thereafter, she achieved accreditation as a Certified General Accountant (C.G.A.), and opened Cripps & Associates, a public accounting firm.  She continues to operate this business, also acting as the Chief Financial Officer for Royal Travel.  Her first truly international trip took her (and husband Norm) to Lima, Peru then on to Cuzco, and finally to witness the wonders of Machu Picchu.  Eleven cruises, and two passports with no room left for stamps later, she still hasn't shaken the travel bug. Fluent in English, French, and Spanish, she will often be seen manning one of the agency desks to lend her particular brand of expertise to Royal Travel clients.

Lynne Kovacs, CTC

Lynne is the longest serving travel agent at Royal Travel, having joined the staff in June 2000. Since that time she has added Scotland, China, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Thailand to her growing repertoire. Of course, her all time favourite destinations (and also that of her husband, Chris and 3 children) are Disney World & Universal Studios in Orlando and Disney Land in Anaheim. She is now looking towards less travelled trails, identifying Tibet and the Antarctic as her next "dream" vacation spots. Lynne specializes in overland tours, cruises and, of course, all the Disney locations.
